Hybrid is pleased to have been able to contribute towards the provision of education supplies to underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur, by utilising the Grab app’s feature that allows anyone to contribute to a good cause at the tap of a screen.
After an office-wide collection of items that staff wanted to donate, a Grab cab was summoned and the donation whisked away by the friendly driver.
Grab’s position in Malaysia as the disruptive technology company dominating the pay-for-ride sector is unassailed by the original upstart, Uber. Originally GrabCar, the service’s differences amount to more than just cost (Grab’s fares tend to be cheaper, plus there’s no peak surcharge; aka so-called surge pricing): the range of services offered by Grab is broader and extends to car hire.
Clara Choi, editor-in-chief of the Hybrid Malaysian office said: “There’s no reason why today’s technology has to be just about profits. Grab are a great example of a company who are using their disruptive tech mentalities to making charitable donation easier – and even fun!”
