Those who feel empowered and see their potential will do great things. Promoting that spirit internally is vital to our indomitable global team at Hybrid.
Equal opportunities are no longer enough — and this year’s International Women’s Day theme, calling for greater equity in the workplace, is a concept that we have long supported at Hybrid. We understand that each of us is starting from a different vantage point, that each of our journeys is unique and that each of us requires different resources to reach our success.
As a company that works at the heart of higher education, we are at the leading edge of positive change in society by working closely with those who are the engines of that transformation. There’s incredible empowerment that comes in having the right tools to make that change happen, and this is something we translate back down to every employee at Hybrid.
Here are three incredible women who are thriving at Hybrid:
I’m proud to say that I’ve worked long-term in three of Hybrid’s four offices, I have fantastic working relationships with my colleagues across the globe and have been able to maintain one of the highest renewal percentage rates company-wide. I’m so grateful that Hybrid took a chance on me back in 2016, with no degree and very little experience within sales or the corporate business world, it was certainly a bit of a risk, but I like to think that’s a risk that’s paid off!
One of the things I love about Hybrid is that there’s a really strong culture of female leadership — three of the four offices we have are managed by women. Even when I started in 2016, there were already several senior female managers and over the years it has just expanded dramatically! Characteristics such as intelligence, honesty, compassion and innovation are important to leadership roles and women often score higher than men in most of these categories. We also have some incredible male leaders, don’t get me wrong, but there are so many companies that don’t – so I think it’s a balance.

In 2020, after a few years of working independently as a freelancer, I joined Hybrid as a Junior Writer. I spent my first few months working on sponsored content and learning the basics of SEO and social media marketing. In a team of six, I was determined to prove myself as a writer who could produce high-quality content that met the client’s needs creatively and engagingly. I started coming in a little earlier, leaving a little later and taking on more work than I was asked to — none of this went unnoticed.
Toward the end of 2021, I was promoted to Sponsored Content Lead and given the authority to manage Study International’s pipeline, guide other education writers and ensure our clients received the content they deserved. In mid-2022, I was tasked to do the same for Tech Wire Asia and Tech HQ. This year, I was promoted to Senior Content Lead, a broader role that encompasses overseeing the production of several kinds of content being produced from our KL office.
I couldn’t thank my managers enough, most of whom are female, for believing in me and ensuring my progression. There’s nothing more inspiring than working alongside powerful women who never let writing their own success stories get in the way of helping others do the same. I’ve asked for everything I’ve received, and clearly, they have never once said no.
After nine years in agencies and publications, I joined Hybrid to manage, guide and train digital marketers and other technical experts across teams. My daily tasks focus on planning, developing, implementing and managing the overall digital marketing strategy of successful campaigns/promotions, both internally and with key advertising partners. But enough about the technical stuff.
Being with the business for over four years, I have always strived in keeping with my unwavering commitment to transparency, especially with leadership. As with life, facing blockers and challenges in achieving remarkable results are necessary – makes us leaner and more resilient! While I hardly identify myself as a woman (granted teasing and clowning around are my USPs), every single soul in Hybrid has shown me nothing but everlasting faith and support in delivering tasks and shining throughout my career here. My heartiest gratitude and congratulations to all the women and men of Hybrid on nailing these astonishing achievements.
